USCIS will continue accepting H-1B petitions that are not subject to the cap for the following purposes only:

• To extend the allotted period of time current H-1B holders can stay in the United States.
• To change the terms of employment for current H-1B workers;
• To permit current H-1B workers to change employers;
• To allow current H-1B workers to work simultaneously in another H-1B position.
